As the founder of Need Base India, I am humbled and inspired every day by the profound impact we have made in the lives of children, women, and communities across Karnataka. What began as a small initiative to address the vulnerabilities of street children has grown into a multifaceted organization dedicated to empowering the marginalized through education, care, and skill-building.
A Journey of Hope and Change
The genesis of Need Base India lies in a simple yet powerful belief: every child deserves a safe space to dream, learn, and grow. When we first opened our doors, we were confronted with the harsh realities faced by children who had no one to turn to—orphans, runaways, and those fleeing dysfunctional environments. Each child’s story was a reminder of the resilience of the human spirit and the need for intervention that goes beyond basic necessities.<br><br>
Through the years with a realisation that addressing the immediate needs will by itself not enrich the society as a whole. Thus, Need Base India undertook initiatives like community learning centers, future program for the youth, education outreach in rural Karnataka, skill development for both youth as well as women. At Need Base India we endeavour to design every program not only to address immediate needs but also to equip individuals with the tools to build a brighter future.
Transforming Vulnerabilities into Strengths
Children are at the heart of what we do. Our care homes provide more than just shelter, they are cared for, educated in a nurturing environment where dreams are cultivated. Partnering with government schools ensures that children who were once out of the education system can reintegrate and thrive academically.
At Need Base India, we believe that sustainable change begins with the community. This philosophy led us to initiate a grassroots approach, tailored to the unique needs of the people we serve. Recognizing the critical role of women in shaping families and communities, NBI has launched skill development programs for rural and marginalized women. Today, tailoring classes, entrepreneurship training, and digital literacy programs have empowered hundreds of women to achieve financial independence and contribute to their households with dignity.

From organizing health camps in remote areas to providing remedial coaching for struggling students, our programs aims at inclusivity through collaboration.
The Road Ahead
The journey so far has been transformative, but there is much more to accomplish. We envision a future where every needy child, regardless of their background, has access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities to chase their dreams. We aspire to touch the lives of more women, helping them rise above socio-economic challenges to become role models in their communities.

Empowering Rural Women:
Transforming Lives through Tailoring Skills and
Entrepreneurship at Need Base India
At Need Base India, we believe in the power of self-reliance to break the cycle of poverty and transform communities. This vision led to the launch of our Empowering Rural Women program, designed to equip women in rural areas with valuable tailoring skills and entrepreneurial training.
For many rural women, access to education, employment, and financial independence is limited, leaving them with few opportunities to uplift themselves and their families. Recognizing this gap, our program focuses on imparting practical, marketable skills that allow women to start their own businesses, generate income, and gain economic independence.
The impact has been profound. Over 90 women have completed our tailoring courses and, today, 80% of them earn over ₹14,000 per month, significantly improving their financial stability. Many have gone on to start small businesses, contributing not only to their household incomes but also to the broader economy of their communities.
This initiative has not only empowered women economically but also socially, as they gain confidence and recognition within their communities. By fostering entrepreneurship, we are creating a ripple effect of positive change, where women are not just learning skills but are becoming leaders, mentors, and role models for the next generation.
At Need Base India, we are proud of the transformation we’ve seen in these women, and we remain committed to expanding this program, creating more opportunities for rural women to thrive and lead their communities toward a brighter, self-sufficient future.

A Journey of Hope: My Association with Need Base India (NBI)
There’s a beautiful saying – “A long journey begins with small steps taken in a measured way”
“From a single home in Bangalore sheltering 63 children to over 500 young lives thriving across 10 residential homes” — This has been the transformative journey of NBI, an organization I have been proudly associated with since June 2013.
What began as a volunteer effort soon turned into an integral part of my identity. My initial contributions focused on shaping the vision and mission of the NGO, crafting its branding and logo, and establishing its social media presence on platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn. These foundational efforts helped set the tone for broader outreach and engagement.
Fundraising has been a crucial pillar of sustaining this growth. Whether it was participating in marathons, setting up kiosks in public sector organizations, or engaging with local communities, each initiative contributed to building financial support for our cause. Over time, the impact of these efforts became tangible—real lives transformed, dreams realized, and futures rebuilt.
One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey has been witnessing success stories unfold. Children who once faced unimaginable hardships are now shaping their destinies—as nurses, cashiers, mechanics, and sales representatives. Their perseverance and achievements serve as a powerful testament to the mission we uphold.
Looking back, the growth of Need Base India is more than just numbers. It is a symbol of resilience, hope, and collective efforts. Today, as an Honorary Board Member, I continue to contribute to shaping strategies, fostering partnerships, and ensuring that more vulnerable children find a safe haven and a path toward success.
The journey is far from over, but every milestone reminds us that every child deserves a chance, and together, we can make it happen.
